When the baby is so laid back and bright eyed, you know it will be a great newborn session. This is exactly what happened with Baby Elinor's lifestyle newborn session. She is the only girl in a family of boys, and her 2 older brothers just love her to pieces. So much so that they fought over who was going to hold her the most...now that's love. We met in their beautiful ranch home in St Paris, Ohio. It was a cold and drizzly December morning, but it was warm and cozy and full of love inside. I love to watch newborn babies begin to interact with their loved ones and see that bond start to develop. THAT is my favorite thing to photograph during these in home newborn sessions.
This time is so special and delicate. Yes, it is a time of transition to becoming parents, or adding another little love in a growing family, but it is so precious and fleeting and I am always thrilled when I get to do these photo sessions because I believe in them. I know their importance. These precious images become even more so on the days that are not so good, when you are stuck in the trenches of motherhood with the older children fighting in one room and a screaming baby in your arms. It becomes more important when this little one goes first to Kindergarten, then before you know it- high school, and in the blink of an eye, college and you are dancing at her wedding. Every stage of life deserves to be documented, but this one is so fleeting and full of so many different emotions, that without these types of pictures, you will forget. You will forget the way her tiny fist wrapped around your finger, or the little wrinkles in her tiny feet, or those first gassy smiles.
These pictures are not just pictures, they memories preserved forever of the most amazing and exhausting time of your life. This is my why.
